Grant David Ward, Sr., is President and Chief Executive Officer at Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company.
In January 2026, Mr. Ward was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer. He was named President and Chief Operating Officer in January 2025, only the eighth President in the company’s history. In his role as President and CEO, Grant works closely with Boston Mutual Life’s Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team to lead the company’s strategy, with a focus on corporate priorities and oversight of business operations.
Previously, Mr. Ward was the company’s General Counsel and Secretary, Executive Vice President – Customer Experience, Claims Services, Legal, Compliance, General Services & Facilities, where he was responsible for overseeing Boston Mutual Life’s Customer Experience department, which includes Claims Services, as well as the Legal and Compliance departments. He joined the company as Second Vice President – Chief Compliance Officer and Counsel in 2016 and was appointed General Counsel and Secretary, Executive Vice President – Legal, Compliance and Human Resources in 2018.
Prior to Boston Mutual Life, Mr. Ward served as Vice President – Chief Compliance Officer and Counsel at SBLI of Massachusetts. He previously served in various roles at MetLife Financial Services, Deloitte, FINRA, and John Hancock Financial Services. He also worked in the Enforcement Division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. He began his career as an associate at Dow Lohnes PLLC.
He currently serves on several committees of the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI), as well as on the Executive Committee of the Life Insurance Association of Massachusetts. Previously, he served as the Chair of the ACLI Deputies Committee, a role that provided support for Chief Executive Officer Paul A. Quaranto, Jr., in his role as Chair of the Board of Directors for the ACLI.
He is a graduate of EXCELerate, one of the talent and leadership development programs at Boston Mutual Life. He is also a graduate of LIMRA and LOMA Strategic Leadership Experience held in partnership with The Wharton School of Business.
Mr. Ward has served as a “Big Brother” for over nine years in the program Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts. He has also served as a mentor for Conexion, Advancing Latino Leadership, and he is an active volunteer for My Brother’s Keeper, a charitable organization whose mission is to provide food and furniture to those in need.
Mr. Ward holds a bachelor’s degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C., and a Doctor of Law degree from DePaul College of Law in Chicago.
